In Forestry 1010: Forests and Society - students will explore the social, cultural, economic, and environmental significance of forests. There is a focus on the impact individuals and societies as a whole have had on forests.

Albertans have a strong connection to the forest, either through the products they use, their recreational activities or the career they pursue. The forest means different things to different people; due to the range of values there are a wide range of forest issues.
The Current Forest Issues that you will look at contain the following five sections:

- Forest Economics Case Study: Softwood Lumber
- Forests & Climate Change Case Study: What about the plants and animals?
